Wiltshire Countryside & the famous Kennet & Avon Canal
The Hourglass is situated just off the A361 London Road (towards Avebury) overlooking the beautiful Wiltshire countryside and the famous Kennet & Avon Canal. We have a large terrace with comfortable seating so you can just relax, watch the boats go by and enjoy the waterside setting and wildlife.
Right next door to the Hourglass is Devizes Marina with recreational and residential moorings. If you are moored at the marina or just visiting, then we are ideally placed for your lunch or dinner - see our Sample menu for details - or ask about our great value picnics available to pre-order.
Devizes is an historic market town founded in Norman times. There are lots of independent shops and restaurants and the famous Caen Hill Locks, a unique set of 16 locks built to enable the Kennet & Avon canal to climb the particularly steep Caen Hill.
10 miles from the Hourglass is the picturesque National Trust village of Lacock, a traditional English village, perfectly preserved, with a wealth of centuries-old buildings and period features. Lacock has been used in many film and TV programmes, including Harry Potter, and is also home to the Fox Talbot Museum, the birthplace of photography.
We are open 7 days a week and we serve food every day.
